Here is to welcoming fall into our hearth and homes. Please join us for several upcoming local events as we continue our pledge to bring hope and health to the Nhimbe for Progress village residents through:
- our Nhimbe preschool, which feeds the children daily and prepares them in early childhood development for 1st grade at many surrounding primary schools,
- our maturing girls’ program, Mhandara Monthly Care (MMC), which provides and protects, offering the young girls reusable, washable supplies that we manufacture, as well as weekly meetings to educate the girls in all the basics regarding their bodies, boys and the beauty of being a young woman,
- our well building program, which builds and repairs wells, often deepening them during drought, so that families have access to water, and
- our music programs!
Ancient Ways performances are designed to delight you as we share the marimba music from Zimbabwe as well as originals. We all volunteer our time to bring this sweet music to audiences year around, with the proceeds returning to Zimbabwe. Get out your dancing shoes, and put these dates on your calendar as we begin to wrap up the 2026 gigging season!
- First is the Ancient Ways 32nd anniversary party on Saturday, September 19th, from 3 to 7 pm here at the farm. This is a potluck, so bring food and a folding chair, and be ready to partay! We are celebrating our volunteers, workers, good Samaritans and donors. Please call or text with any questions (541-570-9059 cell).
- You are familiar with the Corvallis Fall Festival held the last weekend in September? First Christian Church (FCC) sits adjacent to the festival, and FCC sponsors a Craft Fair simultaneously. Our Ancient Ways classroom is located at FCC, and we will be there with bells on! We have two booth spaces, plus hours of music to share, and will be located behind FCC in their very large parking lot with other great vendors. We only do this on Saturday September 26th, with the booth open from 10 am to 6 pm, with the music starting at 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 pm. (Although both events run all weekend, we opt in for Saturday only.) Please come and check out the array of artists and music while making time to visit. There is also good food and plenty of seating to enjoy the venue.
- We will again be sharing our music in Silverton at their Sidewalk Shindig, where all kinds of music is being played all day and into the night. Ancient Ways will be found at the High Water Grill Event Venue from 12 to 2 pm on Saturday, October 3rd. Looking forward to seeing you!
- October 8th, we play at Lafayette Middle School from 5 to 6 pm to start off the school year, giving the families something unusual. Although not a public event, this is just a reminder that we are happy to go almost anywhere and anytime to share the music, which highlights our efforts in Zimbabwe. Give us a call 541-259-4673, landline!
- October 17th from 10:30 am to 12 pm, we are happy to again be playing at the Westminster Presbyterian Fine Arts Festival in Salem, where artists share their incredible talents at this annual event. Great fun and lovely items for sale!
Additionally, consider checking out our upcoming non-music events, reaching from the core of our being out into the galaxies:
- September 11th, here at the farm, we welcome back Erik, from Inspiral Nexus, who shares his astronomical and cosmological fascinations with us under the night sky. Dusk is around 7:30 pm. Call the cell for more info! We will be giving attention to the heavens above!
- September 20th, Circle of Well Being is meeting online 1:30 to 4:30 pm, with an equinox focus, where we give attention to our internal world as it relates to the cycles of nature. We meet 8 times a year, and since it’s online, we are spread out around the US…a very non-local event. Call the cell for more info!
Thank you for your continuing support over the last 32 years! Please let these healthy, happy children from our preschool inspire you!
